How to Handle a Lost or Stolen Computer
Losing a computer can be a stressful experience, especially if it contains sensitive or important data. Here are the steps you should take immediately if your computer is lost or stolen:
1. Report the Loss

File a police report (if stolen): Provide the police with the serial number and any other identifying information about the computer. Help Desk can assist with getting this information if you need to file a police report.
2. Secure Your Accounts

Change passwords: Immediately change the passwords for all accounts that were accessed from the lost computer, including email, banking, and social media accounts.

Enable two-factor authentication: If not already enabled, set up two-factor authentication on your accounts to add an extra layer of security.
